Well, he wasn't much wrong in that the situation with Skeezix having changed, because the girl was still making distress noises and had mentally checked the fuck out. Not that anyone would blame her, body on her front door, baldness, temporary deafness....surgery with giant magical SPIDERS... At least she wasn't harming herself anymore by clawing out her scalp, which was still bleeding pretty fantastically.

It gradually changed from frantic breathing to the first hiccups of crying that signaled her coming back mentally to the world at large. The halfie man of the trio brought out soft flannel rags for her to use for crying hankies, while the halfie woman (Dahlia, was it...?) got up to see what had been so important to Blondie and possibly Skeezix. "What's in the bags?"

Behind her, both the halfie and the human boys were sticking to Skeezix's side to try and comfort her. Panic attacks sucked, no doubt about it. At least they were doing some good.

Things hadn’t changed much inside, but at least there weren’t any dead bodies on doorsteps or hidden in cabinets or hanging from the ceiling. That was a reason to perhaps calm down a little. Skeezix’s medicine also was back inside, which supposedly also helped. Not that Ilyas was at all very restless at all. Not at all. Things were all fine now, really.

That did not mean he appreciated nosiness, though. “None of your business,” he told the curious halfie, who was better off just doing what she had been doing before Ilyas had entered, whatever that was. Besides, he didn’t know what was in the bag exactly either. Medicine. Medicine, that probably only Skeezix really knew how to use. Unless there was some kind of instruction included in the bag.

Ilyas walked over to the chair she sat on. There was so little use in hovering over her while everyone else was already doing that, but he did place that green bag on her lap. Maybe it would help. Maybe the thought that she still had this was a somewhat soothing one.

When she felt that bag's weight in her palms, Skeezix held onto it with a white-knuckled grip and hugged the dingy thing close like it was a stuffed animal. Not the most comfortable of plush companions, but it was doing it's very best and it was all she had right now. Its not perfect...but it's mine... Its not perfect, but it's mine...., she began humming the bars of the song to herself faintly, even if she couldn't hear it.. Feeling the sensations of producing the music in the back of the throat was calming, even if it came out as a soft buzzing noise.

There were folded papers inside of the calico fabric bag that had come with them from Madame Wu's, and one could suppose it made perfect sense to pack legible instructions for a deaf client to read Three containers sloshed inside of the bag when it swung in Blondie's hand for a moment, and one just rattled faintly.

Instructions
FOR TODAY

Warnings: Moss-Birch Tincture: Do not take any alochol or other substances not presribed. Causes extreme drowsiness and slumber so no working in the kitchen after you take any of this.

Warnings: Antibiotic pils: Do not take with alcohol as this reduces effectivness and gives the infection a greater chance to take a foothold. These will wreck havok with your digestive fauna after they've done their work, so eat lots of yogurt.

Take Moss-Birch tincture at a ratio of 2 1/2 cups of liquid to 4 cups of hot water, be certain to eat food while doing so, some herbs are full of hard energy and could cause upset stomach if not taken with food.

The same goes for the pills, take EIGHT before you eat the soup. You have signs of an eye infection that needs to be dealt with quickly before it does lasting damage.

Daily instructions
Take 1/2 cup liquid with 1 cup hot water ever four to six hours as needed for pain management. Your ears are healing so they are supposed to ache, but not hurt.
Take 2 pills every six hours with food, as you do with any antibiotic.

Get plenty of rest, drink lots of clean fluids and hot tea. Feel better soon.

Two of those sloshing containers held a murky green liquid, while the third clearly contained some kind of soup filled with chunks of vegetables in a burnt orange cloudy broth.

Things were better now. Skeezix had her bag back. People were out searching for the one in charge of leaving random bodies at random places. Things were better. And Ilyas still had that piece of paper in his pocket. The paper with the Russian childish scribbling on it. He dug his hand inside his pocket and felt it was still in its place. He then cast a glance over his shoulder. Everyone was busy tending to Skeezix still. They wouldn’t notice it when he took that paper out and read the words one more time.

Just to check if it had been real.

As expected, the words had not changed. If they were true, someone had purposely left that body on Skeezix’s doorstep. If that someone had been wanting to help, they could’ve just left a different note, instead of a half-dead person. Truly, that wasn’t the best way of dealing with things.

Since this whole thing seemed to need a lot more thought and investigation, the note vanished back into Ilyas’ pocket, and there it would remain, until further notice. Since the other people in the room were rather unsuccessful at calming the girl down – which was rather annoying – Ilyas decided this was a good moment to check that bag. Skeezix was clawing it like a cat, but perhaps some reasoning would make her willing to give it up.

Ilyas went to squad in front of her, so that he was on eye level. Assuming her ears still weren’t working, her attempted to draw her attention visually, pointed at the bag and then at her. “You should take those.” Whatever it was, it most likely wasn’t going to do more harm.

...Well, maybe they were keeping her calm, those eyes that were normally a shade closer to new birch leaves were the dark color of spruce in the dead of winter, red rimmed and puffy from crying. It was a moment before it registered what Blondie was doing before Skeezix reluctantly let go of that dingy furry bag. Maybe she had been holding it so tightly because it did indeed resemble in the most creepy of ways.. a stuffed animal on the front flap.

Some people.

She willingly exchanged the bag for the calico print on of Madame Wu's medicine, opening it up and taking out the instructions to read. There was some silent exchanging of signs between her and the three helpful Diggers for a good while before the halfie girl Dahlia started working at the stove to heat up some water and get a pan started for the soup.

A few minutes after that, the man who'd handed Blondie his baseball bat started hurrying at the door. The search party was back with another posse of about 7 people in tow. "Suits are here." He declared as the door opened to admit three of the 7 people that had from Chrystoble Street to figure out what had happened, a very composed looking Trueblood and two humans all in their own versions of the signature silver suits.

"Who found the body?" Asked the hairy, heavy set human man with dark hair, looking at the doorkeeper as the other two shook snow and bitter cold out of their clothes. The Trueblood's armor had the faint clink of metal in it..perhaps scale or shingle maille armor under the suit.

Skeezix could have her little lemon-colored bag back as soon as it had been emptied. They could at least try to find something that would be of immediate use, and since the halfie girl began to grab pans to put on the stove, it seemed this was successfully done. Ilyas returned the plushy bag to its owner, just before there was something at the door.

Suits. A necessary evil, but Suits. Nothing very good ever came from Suits, but perhaps their presence here, the fact that they were taking on this case and tried to figure out who was responsible, would ease Skeezix somewhat. It didn’t exactly make Ilyas feel more calm, but that didn’t matter right now. After all this was over, he was going to have to go out anyway, to look for whoever had left that strange note. And calmness was not going to help him do that anyway, he figured.

The first question asked already made him roll his eyes. It seemed they were even more oblivious than Ilyas usually was. “My cat,” came his sarcastic response. Very sarcastic, of course. As if Ilyas had a cat.

"Dude, seriously?" The halfie digger by the stove gave Ilyas a look of despair and disappointment. "The less you dick with them, the less time you have to spend with em."

"We've dealt with worse...Dahlia, isn't it?" The man who'd asked the questions nodded towards her, taking a thick leather covered notebook out of one pocket as his companions followed someone who appeared in the door and waved them in. "I'm Officer Brando, my partner Clemantis and CSI Django."

"Whoever it is, isn't a dead body yet.." Dahlia replied tartly, wanting to shove something at the suit herself now.

Bosch, who was sitting next to Skeezix, reached to grab her little slateboard and a piece of chalk for her, writing down what was being said as quickly as he could. She stared at the words before simply pointing at Ilyas. He had been the first one to spot the body, after all.

"I see...and I realize this is a vague question, but have you noticed anything suspicious before finding the body? Within the last 48 hours?"

If Ilyas had given anything about looks of disappointment and dismissal, he would've changed his ways a long time ago. He still was his sarcastic, cold self. Or mostly, at least. And it did not seem that was going to be different any time soon.

He had to somewhat agree that being a smart ass wasn't going to help anyone, though. It just was so difficult not to, with these chaps asking the questions they did. Upon being inquired if he had seen anything suspicious beforehand, the thought of the note in his pocket came to mind. Was that suspicious? It was basically a confession, even if he hadn’t a clue who had left it behind. Still, for some reason, Ilyas did not want to share it with the cops. Not yet. Not before he'd been able to do a little research of his own.

And so, he shrugged lightly. "You mean other than the hellish storm out there? That was weird. And that the streets were completely empty and quiet? Suspicious, but probably not connected to nearly dead people who were dropped on other people's doorsteps." Though an icy cold storm that forced everyone to stay indoors was a great cover, wasn't it?

Once again, Bosch was translating, because judging from the expressions of everyone around Blondie, Skeezix suspected, dimly that he was...being himself and groaned. The officer probably wanted a timeline to follow so he could eliminate their trail as being one of the suspects for whatever had happened. She very quietly just facepalmed and groaned at reading the shorthand.

No, she did not have the social ability to handle this and began pulling out the papers that had been given to her by the healers at the Grande Lady, which were time stamped and she knew for a fact that they kept carbon copies of important paperwork. Fuck this shit, she hadn't done anything illegal or fucking beat the living daylights out of anyone, even if she wanted to a little bit.

Then again, the past 48 hours had been fueled by bad decisions, and some violence on her part. Did she really want to relate those things to the cop? Gods and stars no.

Just no, maybe later when she had hearing again. But not right now, good grief, there was a good chance they'd take her Vardo as part of the evidence.

Officer Brando snorted half a laugh, and sighed. "We know that much, because we walked here through it, too smart ass." He gestured with a pen in Skeezix's direction, where something obviously had happened. She glowered at the man who was somehow irritating enough without her having to listen to him. "What's the story here?"

Bosch bristled and hurriedly began writing out what'd been said, Suits.

“Then don’t ask what you already know.” Ilyas was going to play this ‘smart ass’-card until these people got up and left. Cops were notorious for not being any good and totally unhelpful, or for taking a hundred years until they finally came up with something good. Both he and Skeezix weren’t going to last another hundreds years. Or so he thought. That made the people in here pretty much useless.

He followed the officer’s pen, until his gaze landed on the girl for a short moment. This was exactly the kind of question that made Ilyas pull that same ‘smart ass’-card. “This is what it looks like when someone finds a half-corpse on their doorstep. You ain’t seen that before? Nice cop you are.”

Maybe, if he distracted them enough with sassiness, they were going to forget asking the real important questions.

Skeezix read as quickly as Bosch could write it all, what was being discussed and groaned. Of. Fucking. Course. Blondie would play the smart ass card and they'd be here for hours. Reaching forward to take the pencil from Bosch, she hurriedly wrote, I'll write down the story, I need paper before announcing quite bluntly.

"Look, we're all b-busy and t-t-tired and ffffucking c-cold so let's t-take the sticks out of our asses here. I'm t-temporarily fff-fffucking d-d-d-DEAF and t-t-t..TIRED. So bbefore I answer anything Mr. Officccer, I got a q-question for you."

The man had been about to snap back at Blondie's assery when she spoke up so suddenly and angrily. He had the good manners to at least look chagrined, before pointlessly clearing his throat. "Ma'am with all...ah.."

She passed him the chalkboard, looking more like an extremely tired old woman then. "My question is this. Will m-my home be t-taken...as...evidence?" The man had been placed on her fucking DOORSTEP, her warm blankets were in there! Along with some other stuff that she really didn't trust the Suits not to rifle through and maybe take some for themselves given half a chance in this town.

Officer Brando closed his mouth and looked at her, then the chalkboard, then at the Diggers who looked just as serious. Sighing he raised his hands in defeat and took the chalk and slate to sit down and write out some of his questions. From the other room, Clemantis elegantly leaned out to nod some sort of signal to Brando as Django could be heard talking with the others who'd brought in the broken Trueblood. "He'll live, though I doubt any healer in this realm will return him to original functionality."

Small mercy, Skeezix wasn't going to be implicated in a murder.

Skeezix was watching the two Suits so intently, even tired and exhausted as she was, that Bosch bumping her elbow with notebook and pencil almost didn't register. She queaked when he did it again and sighed, bending over to transcribe a brief summary of where they'd been for the last nearly 48 hours.

Yesterday: Got pranked bald by coworker, let off early, went to get wasted. Met Friend at Stoned Soup. Proceeded to get wasted, went to Ground Zero Cafe, got food, got more drink, had weird reaction to elven wine, Left cafe at dark o'clock??? Walking back, heard something weird following. Others couldn't hear it. Blondge Giant investigated, then we got shot at. First shots missed, second one was spell. Cone of LOUD NOISE. Was deaf and half-blind then. We get to Clack station, call cab and wait. Went to clinic on La Llorona Place. Grande Lady. Got emergency care, made appointment for healing next day.
Today: Woke up made food for friends, walked back to Digger House and my home to get funds to pay healer. Took Two hours on foot? Walked back to Healers. Got thing done to ears, painkillers ineffective. MUCH. PAIN. Walk to Madame Wu's, get medicines as prescribed by healers. Walk here. Found corpse, freaked out. We are here now.

While she wrote, the two suits had a quiet muttered conversation with each other about what'd been found on the broken man so far, Eventually Django came out again to make a call for one of the ambulances to come and get them to one of the secure healers facilities.
